Recipe for Mozzarella Sandwiches with Anchovies and Capers
Delicious mozzarella sandwiches with anchovies, capers, tomato, and lettuce, enriched with a touch of salted butter. Perfect as an appetizer or quick and tasty lunch. Add oregano or chili flakes for an aromatic and bold twist.
Start by working the butter at room temperature with a pinch of fine salt until obtaining a soft and spreadable consistency.
Slice the milk buns horizontally into two parts and spread the inner surface of each half with the prepared salted butter.
Wash some lettuce leaves and dry them well, then place a leaf on each base of the buns.
Slice the buffalo mozzarella into thin slices and place a slice on each lettuce leaf.
Drain the anchovies from their oil or salt, dry them, and place an anchovy fillet on top of the mozzarella.
Add some well-rinsed capers to give an extra touch of Mediterranean flavor.
Slice the tomato, lightly salt it, and place a slice on each sandwich to add freshness and juiciness.
Complete with another leaf of lettuce on top of the tomato to maintain crispness and close with the other half of the bun.
Notes
To make these sandwiches even more irresistible, try adding an aromatic touch by sprinkling some dried oregano on the tomato before closing the sandwich, or for lovers of bold flavors, a light sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
